Our Mission

European Green Deal

In the European Green Deal, the EU set a binding goal of attaining climate neutrality by 2050 and a 55 per cent reduction in emissions by 2030. These ambitions in the areas of climate, energy and transport are reflected in the Fit for 55 package, together with the new duty of ESG reporting for large companies. The Carbon Tracker initiative collects data related to these topics, makes it possible to observe their developments over time, and provides the participants with a platform for commenting on changes in climate protection and their socio-economic impact on the Czech Republic.

Methodology

Carbon Tracker

The initiative compiles a listof the 150 largest Czech companies, according to their reported turnover for their last fiscal year. These companies were asked to provide their emissions and revenue data. Data collection for Carbon Tracker 2023 was launched on 10 May 2023, questionnaires can be filled in until the end of June 2023.

In addition, we conduct a detailed review of the publicly available data related to these companies, such as financial and non-financial reports and CDP databases. The calculation methodology is based on the internationally recognized GHG protocol, more details can be found on the website here.
